OCCUPATION:    NEDRA WAS A TEACHER FOR 13 YEARS.  SHE TAUGHT AT PLAINVIEW, CLEVELAND, McGEE VALLEY, PLEASANT HILL, AND DAISY.   SHE WENT TO WORK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES.  SHE WORKED IN ANTLERS, ATOKA, McALESTER, HOLDENVILLE, AND WEWOKA.  DURING THIS 31+ YEAR TENURE WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES SHE SERVED AS THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR FOR ATOKA AND SEMINOLE COUNTIES.   AFTER HER RETIREMENT IN 1975. SHE WORKED IN ADMINISTRATION AT THE OAK RIDGE AND NEW HORIZON NURSING HOMES IN WEWOKA FOR SEVERAL YEARS RETIRING AGAIN IN 1983.  NEDRA AND PIERCE MOVED BACK TO ATOKA 11 YEARS AGO.

ALTHOUGH SHE RAISED HER CHILDREN IN REDWOOD CITY, CA, SHE CHOSE TO RETIRE IN COUPEVILLE, WASHINGTON ON WHIDBEY ISLAND IN THE PUGET SOUND AREA WHERE SHE PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY AFFAIRS.   SHE WAS COUPEVILLE’S SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE AS “MOTHER HUBBARD”, A TITLE SHE HELD FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS.  A PAINTER AND PHOTOGRAPHER, SHE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE COUPEVILLE ARTISTS GUILD.   SHE VOLUNTEERED HER TIME AND ARTISTIC TALENTS TO THE MENTALLY RETARDED ASSOCIATION WHERE SHE TAUGHT THESE SPECIAL INDIVIDUALS PAINTING.   SHE RETURNED TO ATOKA IN 1996.

PASSED AWAY:     SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1998, AT MARY HURLEY HOSPITAL IN COALGATE, OK.
AGE:     88 YEARS     4 MONTHS    AND      3 DAYS
 
EDUCATION:     GRADUATED FROM NORMAN HIGH SCHOOL, AND GRADUATED FROM OKLAHOMA UNIVERSITY WHERE HE EXCELLED IN TRACK.
 
MARRIED:     MARY LOUISE COOK ON DECEMBER  24, 1941 AT ANTLERS, OK.
 
OCCUPATION:      RETIRED POSTAL EMPLOYEE.
 
HENRY WAS A SERGEANT IN COMPANY C, 120TH ENGINEERS OF THE OKLAHOMA NATIONAL GUARD IN 1936. HE VOLUNTEERED FOR THE SERVICE ABOUT A MONTH FOLLOWING JAPAN’S SURPRISE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR. HE SERVED IN THE U. S. NAVY ON 4 DIFFERENT SHIPS AS AN ENSIGN.  HE WAS ACTIVE IN BOTH WORLD WAR II AND KOREAN WARS. AFTER HIS MILITARY DUTY, HE RETURNED TO HIS PREVIOUS JOB AS A RAILWAY POSTAL CLERK OUT OF KANSAS CITY, MO. HE LATER WAS A SUPERVISOR AND WORKED MANY DIFFERENT LOCATIONS INCLUDING PRYOR, OK.   WHEN THE RAILWAY POSTAL SERVICE WAS DISBANDED, HE TRANSFERRED INTO THE TULSA POST OFFICE WHERE HE WAS A CLERK AND A CLERK SUPERVISOR UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT.   FOR SOME 20 YEARS AFTER HIS RETIREMENT HE TRAVELED THROUGHOUT THE WEST COAST BUT MAINTAINED ATOKA AS HIS HOME.   THE PAST 3 YEARS HE RESIDED AT THE HURLEY MANOR IN COALGATE.

HENRY JANZ HAS NO KNOWN SURVIVING RELATIVES. HE IS SURVIVED BY A GOOD FRIEND WHO WAS ALSO HIS GUARDIAN FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS:   LEONARD LINTON AND FAMILY OF LEHIGH, OK.

HE SERVED ON THE ATOKA POLICE PENSION REVIEW BOARD.  DEAN WAS A CORPORAL IN THE U. S. ARMY AND SERVED IN WORLD WAR II AND THE KOREAN WAR. HE ALSO SERVED AS in the MILITARY POLICE.
