Biography

OBITUARY

NAME: Edward Brown Wyrick, age 93, a lifelong Stringtown and Atoka area resident.

BORN: He was born on Wednesday, August 14, 1918, to Robert Ernest "Bob" and Nova (Ball) Wyrick, at Wapanucka, Ok.

PASSED AWAY: Brown passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Atoka, Ok.

AGE: 93 years, 4 months and 7 days.

EDUCATION: He graduated from Stringtown High School in 1936, then attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Ok.

OCCUPATION: Brown started Crews-Wyrick Lumber in 1937, then in 1947 he bought out his partner and it became Wyrick Lumber Company, he operated Wyrick Lumber for 74 ˝ years and was a rancher through the years. He was a calf roper in the early years, hunted quail and loved being outdoors from age 13 until his health failed in later years.

MILITARY: He served his country in the Navy and was a Veteran of World War II.

MARRIED: He married Doris Loreta (Heard) on September 28, 1940 at Eufaula, Ok.

CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Brown was a member of the Atoka First Baptist Church for 64 years and Secretary of his Sunday School Class for most of those years. He was a life member of the American Legion, a charter member of the Lions Club, a member of the Atoka Zoning and Planning Commission, on the board of Allied Building Stores, and a Director of the Oklahoma Lumberman’s Association.

WIFE: Doris Loreta Wyrick of 71 years and 3 months the home in Atoka, Ok.
CHILDREN: Carrie (Wyrick) Barnes and husband Jerry of Tulsa, Ok.
Robert Brown “Bob” Wyrick and wife Sharon of Atoka, Ok.
GRANDCHILDREN: 19 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren
COUSIN: Benny Wyrick III and wife Lavona of Daisy, Ok.
SISTER-IN-LAW: Nancy Myers and husband Lynn of Oklahoma City, Ok.
Kay Heard of Stringtown, Ok.
Emma Lee Heard of Checotah, Ok.
Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear and loved friends, former and present employees.
