Anita Kay (Barcus) Leflore, age 67, an Atoka, OK resident, was born on Monday, February 28, 1955, to Elmer and Ruby (Sexton) Barcus, at Mescalero, NM. Anita passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Oklahoma City, OK. She attended school in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Anita was a housewife, homemaker and worked as a cook at the Atoka Nutrition Center. She married Leon Leflore on Saturday, October 30th, 1999 at Atoka, Oklahoma. They spent 15 wonderful years together before Leon's passing in 2015. Anita was a member of the Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church and a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. She enjoyed reading her Bible, working on word searches and crossword puzzles. Anita was a praying woman and spent a significant amount of time praying for others. Anita is survived by her sons, Ricky Leal of Atoka, OK, Michael Barcus of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Tyler Leal of Atoka, OK, Kristopher Barcus of Durant, OK, Bryanna Barcus of Durant, OK, Sydney Barcus of Durant, OK; very dear friends, Debbie Peters, Stella Johnson, Patricia Johnson; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Leflore; parents, Elmer and Ruby (Sexton) Barcus; grandson, Seth Leal; daughter-in-law, Lisa Leal; brothers, Elmer Barcus Jr, Marvin Barcus, Benny Barcus; sister, Marian Davis.
