Arthur "AJ" James Calvin, age 97, a longtime Stringtown, OK resident, formerly a longtime Gowen resident, was born on Saturday, July 10, 1926, to Roy Elvin and Lolla Bell (Rose) Calvin, at Talihina, OK. AJ passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Atoka, OK.  He attended Talihina Public School. AJ was a driller for the oil rigs. He proudly served his country in The Army in WWII. AJ was of the baptist faith. He loved to work on small engines, mowing, taking care of cattle and fishing.
AJ is survived by his granddaughter, Mary Henderson and husband Dale of Stringtown, OK; brother, Johney Calvin and wife of Gowen, OK; great grandchildren, Summer Barnes and husband Woodrow of Lehigh, OK, Coey Dale Henderson of Bentley, OK; great great grandchildren, Haidyn Marie Henderson, Cooper McCrea Barnes, Avery Kate Coslow, Colter Dean Barnes; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
AJ was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Elvis and Lolla Bell (Rose) Calvin; daughter, Carolyn Ford; grandson, Christopher Howard Hurt; brothers, Robert Calvin Cowesley Calvin, Charlie Calvin, Bill Calvin, Douglas Calvin, Glen Calvin; sisters, Mary Hudspeth, Martha Tubbs.
