Barbra Sue Jackson, age 73, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, December 11, 1948, to George William and Mary (Hicks) Maxey, at Boggy Depot, OK. Barbra passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home in Atoka, OK after a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. She attended school in Odessa, TX and Atoka, OK then earned her college degree later in life from Oklahoma State University. Barbra retired from 30 years employment with the closure of the Ethan Allen furniture manufacturing plant in Atoka, OK. She married Donald Ray Jackson Sr. on Thursday, December 15th, 1966 at Atoka, Oklahoma. Saved on October 14, 1966, serving God was a big part of Barbra's life. Barbra was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Atoka, OK and faithfully served as a mentor, a prayer warrior, bible scholar and teacher. She used her gift as a soprano vocalist to worship God her entire life. Outside service to the Lord, Barbra's greatest joy was her children.
Barbra is survived by her children, Mischelle Rene Jackson of Atoka, OK, Donald Ray Jackson Jr. of Atoka, OK, Misty Dawn Jackson of Atoka, OK; sisters, Verniece (Maxey) Overstreet of Midland, TX, Bonnie (Maxey) Jackson and husband Jerry of Atoka, OK; sister in law, Mamie (Johnson) Maxey of Atoka, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Barbra was preceded in death by her parents, George William and Mary (Hicks) Maxey; husband, Donald Ray Jackson Sr.; daughter in law, Kristie Dawn Jackson; in laws, Virgil Lee and Dovie (Woods) Jackson; siblings, infants James and Lois Maxey, George Wendell Maxey, Siegle Wayne Maxey.
