Bernice (Williams) Walkup, a Coalgate resident, was born on March 10, 1932, to Wilson and Fern (Baker) Williams, at Coal County, OK. She passed away on January 25, 2023 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 15 days. Bernice attended school at Pine/Legal. She was a school bus driver while living in Hobbs, New Mexico, a seamstress at Wrangler, an aide at the nursing home and also a rancher. Bernice married James Eule Humphrey and he preceded her in death in 1985. She later married Joe Winston Walkup and he preceded her in death in 2007. Bernice was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star while living in Hobbs, NM. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. Bernice liked to play bingo, go to casinos and fish. Her favorite times were spent raising her grandchildren.
