Bertha Louise (Box) Loyd, age 75, a Stringtown, OK resident since November 2020, formerly a lifetime resident of Summerfield, OK, was born on Sunday, June 9, 1946, to John Alvis and Alice Sible (Lowery) Box, at Howe, OK. Louise passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Ft. Smith, AR. She started her career in health care, working in hospitals and nursing homes. Louise held multiple jobs over the years, many at the same time. She worked most of her life for the State of Oklahoma. She married Wylie Levon Loyd on Monday, March 26, 1962 at Leflore, OK. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing on December 20, 2020. Louise was a member of the Summerfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, gardening, and canning but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Louise is survived by her daughters, Valinda Elrod and husband Jerry of Stringtown, OK, Alice Curry and husband John of Stringtown, OK; dear and sweet friend, Tish Livesay of Heavener, OK; grandchildren, Tammy Dodd and husband Cheyenne of Stringtown, OK, JW Elrod and wife Mary of Stringtown, OK, Jared Elrod and wife Deidre of Stringtown, OK, Sharina Curry of Antlers, OK; great grandchildren, Alyssa Dodd, Coltin Dodd, Kaci Elrod, Raylee Elrod, Jasper Elrod, Judd Elrod, Jolyn Elrod, Daigen Fullingim; brothers, William Delton Box and wife Joyce of Mineral Wells, TX, Robert Lee Box and wife Janet of Nicut, OK; sisters, Lillian May Oliver of Seminole, OK, Alice Irene Earls of Casa Grande, AZ, Betsy Marie Jones and husband Vernice of Haywood, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, John Alvis and Alice Sible (Lowery) Box; husband of 57 years, Wylie Levon Loyd; siblings, Viola Hopkins, Lorraine McElroy, Earl Box, Charles Box, Laderal Box.
