Bess Mearl (Stamps) Lockhart passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore at the age of 80. Bess was reared in Wapanucka, she moved to Madill in 1964 and has lived in Ardmore for the past seven years. Bess was born August 31, 1927 to Alonzo and Ester (Luster) Stamps at Wapanucka, OK. She graduated from Wapanucka Schools and attended Ada Beauty College. Bess was a hair dresser for several years, later she worked as a receptionist in the loan departement at the First National Bank, Madill. Bess married Roy Lockhart Sr. in 1967, he preceeded her in death in December 1990.She was of Baptist faith. Bess loved gardening, dancing, oil painting and visiting with friends and family. Bess is survived by two daughters, Pam Howell and husband Bobby of Plano, TX., Lu Ann Todd of Ardmore, OK., two sons, Thomas "Rip" Virgin, Philip Virgin and wife Anna all of Ardmore, OK., six grand children, Kristi and husband Kevin Hammer, Brooke Baxter, Jaclyn Morris, Preston Pattillo, Ann Howell, Robin Howell, five great grand children, John Hammer, Jeremy Hammer, Madelyn Morris, Will Morris, Isabelle Morris
