Bessie Lenora McBride, age 86, a lifelong Nix/Caney, OK resident. She was born on Thursday, December 15, 1938, to John and Macie (Higgs) Smith, at Nix, OK.  Lenora passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Atoka, OK. She attended Nix Grade School and Caney High School. Lenora was a cook for Caney Public School. She married Buster McBride on Friday, November 25th, 1955 at Sherman, TX. They celebrated over 65 years of marriage before his passing on February 1, 2020. Lenora attended Caney Freewill Baptist Church for over 55 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading her Bible, working jigsaw puzzles, road tripping with Buster and loved being with her family and friends.
Lenora is survived by her son, Tom  McBride and wife Tammie of Caney, OK; grandchildren, Joey McBride and wife Melissa of Milburn, OK, Keta Robbins and husband Michael of Caney, OK, Kent McBride and wife Amanda of Tushka, OK, Ethan McBride of Caney, OK, Jake Magby of Atoka, OK, Brandie Gregory and husband Jeremy of Lane, OK, Calvin McBride and wife Delaney of Little City, OK; 11 great grandchildren; daughter in law, Jan McBride of Caney, OK; sisters in law, Doris Ridgway of Caney, OK, Ida Crites of Caney, OK, Hatti Carr and husband Clint of Caney, OK, Glenda McBride of Caney, OK; best friend, Carol Sanders and husband Wes of Caney, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Buster McBride; parents, John and Macie (Higgs) Smith; son, Dennis McBride; siblings, Bernon Smith, RJ Smith, LG Smith, Floyd Smith, Jess Smith, Leland Cotton Smith, Mazie Johnson, Evie Head, Georgia Stanley.
