Betty Lillian Dorsey

Betty Lillian Dorsey, 70, of Noble, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in Norman, Oklahoma, on July 8, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 14, 1956, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Betty June and Floyd “Buster” Marcum. Betty attended Albion and Talihina schools, where her academic accomplishments earned her the distinction of being valedictorian of her class. Her competitive spirit also made her an award-winning player on the women’s varsity basketball team. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her academic career, culminating a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

She married Paul Dorsey, and together they had three sons, whom she loved dearly. She built a lifelong career serving as both a stay-at-home mom and a math teacher for several Oklahoma school districts, most recently at Harding Charter Prep High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Beyond work, Betty enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, gardening, crocheting, and most notably, caring for and loving her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her sons, their families, and her grandchildren. Betty was known for her generous heart, kind spirit, and enjoyment of great, thought-provoking conversations with her family. She loved God and often spent time reading her Bible. Betty left an indelible imprint on her family and friends through the way she lived her life.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Betty June Marcum, and her sister, Jessaline Marcum Pasquali.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister Patty Marcum Reed, and her spouse, Ted; son Floyd Dorsey and his spouse, Valerie; her son Joshua Dorsey and his spouse, Hollie; her son Cody Dorsey and his spouse, Shyla; and her grandchildren, Jaxon, Parker, Abi, Trinity, Dalton, Tamberlyn, Atley, and Lennox Dorsey.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and 2:00 pm at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, 400 West Queen Avenue, Coalgate, Oklahoma, 74538.
