Billye Sue (Thomas) Sewell Flowers, age 90, a lifelong Coal and Atoka, OK County resident. She was born on Friday, February 2, 1934, to Hugh Willard and Willa Frank (Hargrove) Thomas, at Muleshoe, TX. Sue passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Coalgate, OK. She attended Standing Rock School and graduated from Coalgate High School with the class of 1952. Sue retired from USDA-FHA where she was a secretary/loan assistant, worked for US Post Service, and Tinker Air Force Base. She worked 30 plus years with the federal government. She married Max Lee Sewell on November 25, 1955 in Stockton, CA. They celebrated 23 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 24, 1979. She later married Billy Dale "Bill" Flowers on February 4, 1983 in Atoka, OK. They celebrated 33 years of marriage before his passing on July 31, 2017. Sue was a previous member of First Baptist Church of Coalgate, later she was a member for many years of First Baptist Church in Atoka. Sue taught Toddler Sunday School Class and served on many church committees. She loved sewing, making dolls, crocheting, knitting, was a wonderful cook, (the queen of chocolate gravy), loved her kids and especially her grandkids. Sue enjoyed traveling, fishing, and letting Jeff silk her ears.
Sue is survived by her brother, Pete Thomas of Coalgate, OK; children, Tammi Miller and husband Danny of Atoka, OK, Tommy Sewell and wife Debbie of Plano, TX, Wayne "Boo Boo" Sewell and wife Maria of Atoka, OK, Hughy Sewell and friend Diana Durant of Atoka, OK; daughter in law, Ellen Sewell of Atoka, OK; step children, Dennis Flowers and wife Deborah of Coleman, OK, Jerry Flowers and wife Maressa of Union city, OK, Rhonda (Flowers) Lacy and husband Don of Clinton, OK; grandchildren, Sabrina Beaird and husband Eugene of Atoka, OK, Sarah Bonvouloir of Celina, TX, Jenni Allen and husband Tommy of Atoka, OK, Jamey Miller and wife Secret of Atoka, OK, Shannon Compere and husband Ryan of Frisco, TX, Phillip Sewell of Nashville, TN, Randi Sue Hauff and husband Casey of Atoka, OK, Sarah Durant of Atoka, OK, Richard Sewell and wife Cami of Memphis, TN, Kevin Miller and wife Hannah of Atoka, OK, Cliffy Miller and wife Denym of Atoka, OK, Matt Flowers and wife Shanda of Shawnee, OK, Adam Flowers and wife Danielle of Yukon, OK, Tanner Flowers of Tuttle, OK, Bryce Lacy of Clinton, OK, Drew Lacy and wife Brooklyn of Clinton, OK, Cody Kern and wife Chelsey of Duncan, OK, Jason Wade of Coleman, OK; great grandchildren, Zoey Beaird, Brookelynn, Bayleigh and Brynnleigh Bonvouloir, Adeline Compere, Fenton, Stone and Cooper Sewell, Kamrynn and Kasen Allen, Logan Sewell, Kamri and Mady Hauff, Tate Powell, Waylon, Andy, Joey, Nora and Willa Miller, Joley, Christian, Grayden, Reed, Dakota and McKenzie Flowers, Lauren York, Kimber and Kinsley Lacy, Cam Kern; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Willard and Willa Frank (Hargrove) Thomas; husbands, Max Lee Sewell, Bill Flowers; son, Jeff Sewell; siblings, Ben Thomas, Elmo Thomas, A.W. Thomas, Rudolph Thomas, Doyle Thomas, Max Thomas, Elwanda Williams, Eileen Sandman, Royce Thomas, Bobby Thomas; granddaughters, Misty Farmer, Christy Flowers; grandson, Benjamin Max Sewell.
