Brenda Joyce Gass, age 78, a longtime Norman, OK resident and a recent Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Monday, November 4, 1946, to Joe William and Dorothy Lee (Wiggins) Phillips, at Norman, OK. Brenda passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at her home in Atoka, OK. She attended Norman Public Schools and graduated from Norman High School with the Class of  '65. Brenda was an Assistant Director of Finance at University of Oklahoma for many years and retired in 2012. She married Charlie Clifford Gass on Tuesday, January 17th, 1967 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Norman, Oklahoma. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together before her passing. Brenda was a former member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, OK, former member of the North East Baptist Church in Norman, OK, and current member of the First Baptist Church in Atoka, OK. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, getting her nails done and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Charlie Clifford Gass of the home in Atoka, OK, formerly of Norman, OK; son, Mark Gass and wife Mishell of Atoka, OK; daughter in love (niece), Jane Speheger; grandsons, Oakley Gass and wife Makala of Atoka, OK, Haden "Boss" Gass and wife Hope of Atoka, OK, Hunter Gass of Norman, OK; granddaughters, Haley Dixon and husband Kolton of Caney, OK, Hanah Barnard of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughter in love, Harper Speheger; great grandkids, Blakeleigh Gass, Brynleigh Gass, Bryleigh Gass, Graycen Dixon, Beau Dixon, James Gass, Oakley Gass; sister, Janet Banks and husband Luther of Norman, OK; sisters in law, Sara Bidwell of Blanchard, OK, Alma Louise Kiper and husband Warren of Norman, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved family members.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Dorothy Lee (Wiggins) Phillips; son, Michael Joe Gass; parents in law, Charlie Clifford and Marjorie Marie "Holbrook" Gass Sr.; sisters in law, Joyce Mize, Martha Jo Gass
