Bunnie Franklin Birchfield, age 88, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Thursday, November 29, 1934, to Jay and Ophelia (Crowder) Birchfield, at Atoka, OK. Bunnie passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Durant, OK. He attended Centerpoint and Harmony Grade School and Atoka High School. Bunnie was a rancher first and foremost and was also a sawmill owner and construction worker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Ladonia Beatrice (Henderson) on Friday, May 1st, 1953 at Durant, OK. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before his passing. Bunnie was a member of Farris Baptist Church. He enjoyed ranching, hunting, fishing, gardening and loved being with his family.
Bunnie is survived by his wife, Ladonia Beatrice Birchfield of the home in Atoka, OK; daughter, Bunnie Sue Coleman and husband Scott of Henderson, TX; son, Shawn Birchfield and wife Brandi of Farris, OK; grandchildren, Lindsi Root, Chance Coleman, Brynn Birchfield, Shay Birchfield; great grandchildren, William, Harper, and Lenin Root, Bentley Hughes and Brayleigh Coleman; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Bunnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Ophelia (Crowder) Birchfield; brothers, Elmer Birchfield, Lee Birchfield, Edgar Birchfield, James Birchfield; sisters, Eula Nowlin, Alene Prater.
