Carl Brown, age 81, a lifelong Stringtown, OK resident, was born on Sunday, June 14, 1936, to Manzella and Lucille (Viney) Brown, at Stringtown, OK. Carl passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his residence Stringtown, OK. He graduated from Dunbar High School and immediately joined the Army. Carl worked as a ammo inspector and retired as supervisor at the McAlester/Army Ammunition Depot in Savannah, OK. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a tank driver and heavy equipment operator. He married JoAnn (Henderson) on November 15, 1958 at Atoka, OK. They had 51 wonderful years together before her passing on March 11, 2009. Carl was a member and Head Deacon of St. Matthew Baptist. He was a Stringtown Volunteer Fireman where he retired after 20 years and served 20 years on Stringtown's School Board where he served as President for several years. Carl loved fishing, hunting, going on trips, sports, especially Dallas Cowboys, The Sooners, Oklahoma Thunder and Golden State Warriors.
Carl is survived by his children, Sharon Brown and Larry Parker of Oklahoma City, OK, Theresa Doakes and husband Enrico of Pittsburg, CA, Valerie Brown of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael Brown of Stringtown, OK, Rodney Brown of Stringtown, OK, Steven Brown and Charlotte Giles of Stringtown, OK; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Stanley Johnson of CA, Cecil Johnson of CA, DeWayne Johnson of CA, Roland Johnson of CA, Arlee Johnson Jr. of CA; sisters, Bernice Johnson of CA,  Loretta Johnson Wassna of CA, Carol Johnson Goldstein of CA,  Diana Johnson Dana of CA; brothers in law, Clifford Brown of Atoka, OK,  Russell Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters in law, Della Mae Porter of NY, Raydean Crawford of Oklahoma City, OK, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Manzella Brown and Lucille Viney; wife, JoAnn Brown; 6 brothers; 3sisters; grandson, Kenneth "Bump" Brown.
