Carl Denver Clay, age 79, an Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, April 19, 1945, to Julius and Velma (Hanson) Clay, at Atoka, OK. Carl passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Sherman, TX. He graduated from Englewood High School in Colorado with the class of 1963. Carl was a carpenter, worked in construction and was a prison guard. Carl proudly served his country in The United States Army and National Guard. He married Linda Sue Pelts on Saturday, May 16th, 1970 at Atoka, OK. They spent 40 wonderful years together before her passing in 2010. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Carl is survived by his children, Tina Smith and husband Jory of Atoka, OK, Tommy Clay and wife Angela of Mead, OK; grandchildren, Matthew Clay and wife Patience of Stringtown, OK, Shaina Smith of Atoka, OK, Michael Clay of Atoka, OK, Alaina Smith of Atoka, OK; great grandchildren, Violet Smith, Jasper Smith, Knox Clay; siblings, Fred Clay, Wilda Folsom and husband Richard of Duncan, OK, Calvin Clay and wife Nancy of Sherman, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and dearly loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue (Pelts) Clay; parents, Julius and Velma (Hanson) Clay; great grandson, Kayven Perry; sisters, Helen Shea, Katheryn Brookshire, Eva Jane Clay.
