Carl Wayne Owens, age 80, an Atoka, OK resident was raised in Atoka, lived in Oklahoma City and Choctaw  before moving back to Atoka in 1989. He was born on Sunday, February 21, 1943, to Woodrow Wilson and Callie (Tomlinson) Owens, at BlackJack, Atoka County, OK. Carl passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Atoka, OK. He attended Lane Grade School and Atoka High School. Carl was a rancher, a cattle buyer and worked for Robinson Steel. He married Peggy Ann (Deaton) on Saturday, May 26th, 1962 at Iron Stob, OK.  They celebrated 58 wonderful years together before her passing on November 15, 2020. Carl was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, hunting, buying cattle and being a cattleman visiting with the Sale Barn people and loved being with his children and grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Teresa Owens of Blackjack, OK, Karen Custar and husband Justin of Sharon/Mutual, OK, Carla Douglas and husband Charlie of Blackjack, OK; grandchildren, Jaren Custar of Woodward, OK, John Custar of Atoka, OK, Justin Custar Jr and wife Haley of Bixby, OK, Haley Gipson and husband Mark of Blackjack, OK, Chase Douglas and fiancé Anna Usrey of Blackjack, OK, Chance Douglas of Blackjack, OK; great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Madison Gipson, Payton and Paxton Custar, Karter Custar, Callie Custar; sisters, Linda Kisinger and husband Paul of Atoka, OK, Melba Brothers of Devol, OK, Norene Shoemake of Warrensburg, MO; in laws, Linda Goff and husband Sonny of Atoka, OK, Betty Griffin of Crystal River, FL, Phyllis Collins of Crystal River, FL, Mark Deaton of California; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Callie (Tomlinson) Owens; wife, Peggy Owens; granddaughter, Shannon Douglas; brother, Bobby Owens.
