Carolyn Ruth Harper, age 83, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, September 3, 1938, to Carl and Edith Catherine (Phillips) Allen, at Atoka, OK. Carolyn passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home in Atoka, OK. She graduated from Atoka High School in 1956 and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Southeastern State University, later she received her Librarian Certification at SOSU. Carolyn was selected as Teacher of the Year for Atoka Schools. Carolyn retired from Atoka Middle School where she was an English Teacher and librarian for over 25 years. She married Ronnie Harper on Friday, June 7th, 1957 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 64 1/2 years together before her passing. Carolyn was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was a member of the Pioneer Club. She loved her family unconditionally.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ronnie Harper of the home in Atoka, OK; daughter, Patricia Bellows and husband Kevin of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Katrina Lewis and husband Benjamin of Ada, OK, Samuel Bellows and wife Kelsey of Atoka, OK, Sabrina Gaines and husband Keith of Byng, OK, Rebekah Brewster and husband Marty of Atoka, OK, Jesse Lee Harper and wife Kaylee of Atoka, OK; 12 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Eddy Ann Rounsaville of Norman, OK, Patricia McGarry and husband John of N. Andover, MA; daughter in law, Danelle DeWitt of Atoka, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edith Catherine (Phillips) Allen; son, Ron Harper; brother in law, Glo Rounsaville.
