Chat A White, age 71, a lifelong Lane, OK resident, was born on Friday, September 14, 1951, to Joe Bill and Clara Estelle (Cochran) White, at Ft. Bragg, CA. Chat passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Durant, OK. He attended Lane Elementary School and graduated from Atoka High School. He married Diana (Bonham) on Friday, March 1st, 1974 at Tushka, OK. They celebrated 48 years of marriage before his passing. National Guardsman, truck driver, t-ball coach, volunteer fireman, and diesel mechanic were some of the hats he wore. His girls said, "He was like John Wayne and Superman combined." He was always so strong and big. His arms were as big as a man's leg. His truck handle was "Big Bull" but he was a big teddy bear. He loved animals and animals were always drawn to him. He enjoyed westerns and shoot 'em up movies. His favorite Christmas movie was Die Hard. He loved sitting on the front porch drinking Folgers coffee while it rained. He wasn't super chatty for a man named Chat but he loved visiting with friends and his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating even though he didn't get much time to do it. His bowling average as a younger man was in the high 200's and he could play a mean game of horseshoes too! An enjoyable evening to Chat included a big helping of banana pudding; then sitting around the kitchen table playing cards or dominoes. Chat lived a truly selfless and sacrificial life. He would help anyone in need without thinking twice. This beautiful man gave away a house and a car once to a family in need. Godly is what he was. Not in the know every verse kind of way but in the way he lived his life laid down for others and how much he loved his family. Even keeled and rock steady. His wife and kids never saw him angry, not once, and the only reason he'd raise his voice was if you were about to get hurt. He worked hard every day he could for us and he loved our Mom. They have been married 48 years. His greatest delight were his grandchildren. He would smile and get so tickled by them. He never withheld his "I love you's." What a wonderful legacy of love he and Diana have given them. They're going to miss those front porch talks and campfire conversations. People ask what is the measure of a man and we say it is Chat A White. He loved God and others more than himself and didn't store his treasure on earth.
Chat is survived by his wife, Diana White of the home in Lane OK; daughters, Samantha Watson and husband Richard of Lane, OK, Lindsay Roode and husband Chris of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Mason Watson, McKenzi Watson, Madilyn Watson, Patrick Anthony Watson, Damon Edward Watson, Jonathan Andrew Watson, Elijah Roode, Joshua Roode, Rebekah Roode; sister, JoAnn King of Atoka, OK; brothers, Rex White and wife Debra of Jay, OK, Joe Bob White and wife Shelly of Atoka, OK; great grandchildren, Galilaya Watson, Janie Watson, Patrick Watson Jr., Julian Watson, Kamila Watson; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Chat A White has received his reward and his healing. He's with his baby girl Rikki, his Mom, Dad, and younger brother Brett. They are reunited. What joy is on the other side of Heaven right now!
