Jean was born on October 29, 1934, in Wilson, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of four children and raised in southern Oklahoma. Jean was raised to have a strong work ethic doing her best at whatever she laid her hand to. She was a homemaker and later became a school bus driver in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After moving back to Texas, she became a Test Car Driver for the automotive proving grounds located near Pecos, Texas. She was an avid book reader. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bird watching and loved animals. As her husband says, "She loved animals from the word GO' On February 10, 1949, she was married to her husband of 66 years, J.R. Roberts. She and J.R. were married in a little grocery store of Wapanucka, Oklahoma, by the name of Ben Owens Grocery'. The ceremony was performed by the local Baptist pastor Rev. J.R. Cartwright. Soon after being married, they moved to Odessa, Texas, and started their lives together. Jean went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2015. She loved the Lord dearly and is now standing face to face with Jesus who gave His life so she could live eternally with the Heavenly Father. Jean was preceded in death by her mother Ruby May Taylor Woods, her dad Harvey Lonzo Brumley and her brother Ira Lonzo Brumley. She is survived by her husband, J.R. Roberts of Brownwood, TX; sister, Charlene May Hamersley of Martinez, CA; brother, Vall Lewis Ables and wife Glenda of Hot Springs, AR; sister-in-law, JoAnne Brumley of Atoka, OK.; daughter, Pamela Jean Crouch and husband Clifford of Monahans, TX.; son, David Cavin Roberts and wife Terri of Ft. Worth, TX.; son, James Stanley Roberts and wife Cathy of Brownwood, TX; Son, Stephen Ray Roberts and wife Kelly of Denver City, TX; 14 grand children;18 great grand children, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Her faith carried her through life's challenges and into the arms of her loving Saviour. She now waits for us to join her in a place of eternal joy and happiness.
