Clifford Darrell Coats, age 76, a Lane, OK resident, was born on Thursday, July 3, 1947, to Clifford and Lucille (Burkhalter) Coats, at Atoka, OK. Darrell passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Plano, TX. He attended six different schools, California, New Mexico, Thunderbird Elementary School, Ironstob School, Lane Elementary, and graduated from Atoka High School with the class of 1965. Darrell worked in Law Enforcement and was a heavy equipment operator. He married Sharon Kay Williams on Friday, December 30th, 1966 at Atoka, OK, they spent 57 years of marriage together. Darrell was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #627. He enjoyed hours and hours of  talking on the phone, riding the 4-wheeler, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, watching rodeos on TV, and politics.  Darrell had many friends and relatives that he checked up on often, he was well known for showing up to check on a friend that had been sick. He would often be up at 4 in the morning cooking biscuits, gravy, and sausage. Every morning for years he talked to his buddy, Carey Rector, and it was quite the conversation since both wore hearing aids and still couldn't hear well. One of the highlights of his life was bringing his best hunting buddies Harold Roland and brother Wayne Roland to know the Lord.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay (Williams) Coats of the home in Lane, OK; children, Robert Don Coats and wife Courtney of Konawa, OK, Valerie Suzanne Adams and husband Matt of Lane, OK; grandchildren, Jessica Ward and husband Jackson of Centrahoma, OK, Jackie Childers and husband Carson of Houston, TX, Jill Reavis and husband Kenny of Choctaw, OK, Grady Blackwood of Lane, OK, Julie Coats of Konawa, OK, Jayden Coats of Konawa, OK; great grandchildren, Josephine Ward of Centrahoma, OK, twins, Callen and Clay Childers of Houston, TX, twins, Ivy Rearis and angel sister Lily Reavis of Choctaw, OK; his men's sunday school class; lifelong friend and honorary brother, Johnny Faulkenberry; uncle, Paul Silvers; sisters in law, Flora Coats, Gaylene Miller and husband Phillip; brother in law, Jerry Don Williams and wife Donna; nieces, Cindy Faulkenberry, Cari Coats, Shelly Daniel, Angie Frost, Tami Hayne, Mindy Flynn, Jodi Miller; nephews, Chad Coats, Jay Willoughby, Eric Willoughby, Jason Miller; along with numerous other dearly loved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lucille (Burkhalter) Coats; siblings, Harold Coats, Sharon Hook; uncles, Pinky Burkhalter, Leon Burkhalter; aunts, Ginger Silvers, Geraldine Eaves; great granddaughter, Lily Lee Reavis; maternal grandparents, W. T. and Thelma Burkhalter; paternal grandparents, Beulah Goodson Coats and Claude Coats; mother-in-law, Helen and Reuel Holcomb; many beloved friends and coworkers of IUOE Local #627; beloved dog, Boo Boo, who passed with Darrell.
