Clovis Elton Roland, age 81, a longtime Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Thursday, September 24, 1942, to Eugene "Buddy" and Eula Mary (Moran) Roland, at Post Oak, OK. Clovis passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Atoka, OK. He graduated from Atoka High School in 1963 and went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Clovis worked in Border Patrol and Law Enforcement and learned how to fly during this time and loved it. His first job was shoeshining. Clovis proudly served his country in The Air Force and was discharged in 1968. He met his wife Rita Kathleen Holm while he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Base at Great Falls, MT and they were married on Saturday, September 26th, 1964 at Great Falls, Montana. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing. Clovis enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles with his wife. He loved fishing and hunting with his buddies, woodworking, cutting up and playing jokes, trying to play the fiddle and the guitar, dancing with his daughter Nancy and hunting with his son Daniel. Clovis contracted Polio as a child and lost 2 years worth of school, but survived and went on to graduate in 1963. He and his buddy, Rodger Amis, rescued two people from the Rio Grande River at Big Bend National Park.
Clovis is survived by his wife, Rita Kathleen (Holm) of the home in Atoka, OK; son,  Daniel Wayne Roland and wife Amy of Mobile, AL; daughter, Nancy Kay Roland of Kapaa, HI; grandchildren, Sydney, Morgan, Seth and Caleb Roland; nieces and nephew, Vernon Roland of Atoka, OK, Cheryl Roland-Roberts of Blanchard, OK, Paula Roland-Holstine of Stringtown, OK; great niece, Hailey Roland-Wood and husband Landri of Atoka, OK; sisters in law, Carolyn Seabourn Roland of Atoka, OK, Sandra Roland, Sandy Hayes and Herb, Judy Hazen; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Clovis was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Eula (Mary) Roland; siblings, Harold, Wayne, Fern, Billie.
