Curtis Leon Sheffield, age 77, a lifelong Lane, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, October 21, 1942, to Leonard and Florence Loretta (Butler) Sheffield, at Lane, OK. Curtis passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Atoka, OK. He graduated from Atoka High School in 1960. Curtis was a rancher all his life and also worked for the highway department for the state. Curtis served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard. He married Mary Elaine (Miller) on Friday, June 16th, 1967 at Caney, OK. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing. Curtis was a member of Lane Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding horses, working the land, riding 4 wheelers, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his cattle.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Mary Elaine Sheffield of the home in Lane, OK; son, Steven Sheffield of Lane, OK; grandchildren, Megan Robinson and husband Daniel of Stringtown, OK, Lauryn Bird of Sherman, TX, Sara Bird of Sherman, TX, Alex Sheffield of Cottonwood, OK, Austin Sheffield of Durant, OK , Jillian Sheffield of Durant, OK; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Fink and husband Earl of Tulsa, OK, Barbara Broome and husband Gene of Tushka, OK; brothers, Doyle Sheffield and wife Sharon of Lane, OK, Forrest Sheffield and wife Patsy of Tupelo, MS, Jack Sheffield and wife Lou Ann of Lane, OK, Larry Sheffield and wife Gloria of Lane, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Ervin and Florence Loretta (Butler) Sheffield; daughter, Karen Sheffield; siblings, Lennis Frederick, Leonard Sheffield, Jr., Raymond Sheffield, Clyde Sheffield.
