Obituary

Cynthia (Cyndi) Diane McCurry England, well known by everyone as Gigi, was born in Norman, Oklahoma on August 24th,1956 and passed from this life at her home in Tishomingo on Monday afternoon, October 16th, 2023 after a valiant five year battle with blood cancer.  Cyndi was raised in Saginaw, Texas and graduated from Wapanucka high school in 1974. She had a fulfilling career in sales and customer service at Sundowner trailers for 18 years. She then went to work with her dear friend Deanna at First National Bank in Ardmore. She retired there in November of 2014 to be a full time Gigi.

She took her role of big sister to her little brother Danny very seriously and loved him with everything she had. In fact she had been told if she didn't stop talking for him he was never going to learn to talk. They were roommates and best friends and spent many a night at Lobos Bar and enjoyed playing lots of pranks not really appropriate to write about here on their friends and even strangers they would meet at the store.  She jumped at the chance to listen to live music, hang at the lake, she loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and driving around in her Nissan 200 SX. She really enjoyed her get aways to her friend Kelly's house. She said that "it was much like a resort"

She was a wonderful cook, a meticulous gift-wrapper with a wicked sense of humor that could have landed her her very own Netflix special.  She was the coolest big sister and best friend to everyone in her world. She loved Tina and Amber very much and was the best step-mom to them. Tina said she could have never asked for a better step-mom and best friend. She loved rock and roll music, especially Gary Stewart and the Rolling Stones.

In fact, she named her daughter Chelsea after The Rolling Stones who originated in Chelsea, England. Cyndi loved being a mom to Chelsea, and spent the rest of her life making sure Chelsea was loved and supported in only the ways a mother can.  And to say she enjoyed being "Gigi" (pronounced Ge-Ge) to Bradan Andrew is probably the biggest understatement in the entire world. He was the apple of her eye and her reason for living–and Bradan certainly reciprocated that love back to her, helping her out around the house and looking after his grandmother up until the very end. According to Bradan, her best dish was meatloaf. She'll forever be Bradan's fishing buddy. He said he will never forget how she would let him bring his perch home in her Pontiac.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Judge and Trixie Hokett and Josie and Asa McCurry, parents, Danny Lee McCurry and Priscilla Jane Hokett McCurry Henson, her granddaughter Savanah Stanley and best friend Linda Wood. She is survived by her brother Danny and his wife Tammy of Dickson, Oklahoma, daughters Chelsea Carroll of Tishomingo, Tina Lucero and husband Bill of Vermont, and Amber England of Oklahoma City, grandchildren Bradan Carroll of Tishomingo, Jessica Lucero of Vermont and Josie England of Oklahoma City, nephews Duston Lee McCurry of Dickson and Dillon Cole McCurry of Madill, in addition to numerous friends and family she loved dearly.

Services are scheduled for 2PM Friday, October 20th, 2023 at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Atoka, Oklahoma. Roy Wayne Blevins will officiate the service. Honorary casket bearers are Bradan Carroll, Duston and Dillon McCurry, Bryan Whitaker, Josh Duran, Ryan Oldham and Justin Allen, Brent Wood

Fly high Cyndi.  May the playlist in heaven include endless amounts of Gary Stewart and the Rolling Stones, bike rides with beautiful sunsets and a joyous reunion with your mom and daddy.
