Dee Erwin "Poppa Dee" Ray, age 68, a longtime Atoka, OK resident was born on Tuesday, August 18, 1953, to Fred and Jeanne Irwin (Boone) Ray, at McAlester, OK. Dee passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Sherman, TX. He graduated from Atoka High School and attended college at Oklahoma State University. Dee was a Mechanic at Diamond Attachments in Atoka. He married Sheila (Cunningham) on Saturday, August 31st, 1974 at Atoka, OK. They have celebrated 47 years of married before his passing. Poppa Dee was a Christian. He loved playing the guitar, riding his motorcycle, drawing and painting, scuba diving. Poppa Dee enjoyed playing a game of pool especially with his kids and grandchildren and spending time with them and the rest of the family.
Dee is survived by his wife, Sheila Ray of the home in Atoka, OK.; daughters, Kristie Dickson and husband Darian of Atoka, OK Keri Steen and husband Ross of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Jade Mixon, Trent Mixon, Blake Steen, Lily Steen.; brother, Neil Ray of California; nieces, Ashley Baker and Sara Baker of Atoka, OK; nephew, Bobby Baker of Atoka, OK; Along with numerous other relatives and host of friends.
Dee is preceded in death by his parents. Fred and Jeanne Irwin Boone (Boone) Ray; grandparents, Dee Porter and Nell Ray; in laws, Bob & Gloria Cunningham; aunt, Pauline Brockmeier; along with numerous friends and other relatives.
