Obituary

Delbert Ray Sawyer, age 83, a Harrah, OK resident. He was born on Monday, May 3, 1937, to William and Myrtle May (Baker) Sawyer, at Bennington, OK. Delbert passed away at home on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Harrah, OK. He received his GED while serving in the military. Delbert was an Army Tank Mechanic, rancher, and tree trimmer. Delbert proudly served 2 tours in Vietnam for the United States Army and received many honors along with the bronze star medal. He married Ki Ye (Yu) on Monday, November 4th, 1974 at Seoul, South Korea. Delbert loved working on the ranch, and was a member of Country Side Baptist Church in Newalla, Oklahoma. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, hunting, and riding horses. He loved to travel with his son. He loved animals of all kinds.
Delbert is survived by his wife: Ki Ye Sawyer of the home in Harrah, OK; son: James Sawyer and wife Nancy of Choctaw, OK; daughters: Wanda Johnson and husband Albert Murphy of Mcloud, OK,Shirley White of Norman, OK, Carol Sawyer of Mansfield, TX, Debbie Smith and husband Marvin of Mcloud, OK; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sisters: Wilma Nail and husband Ronnie of Savanna, OK, and Frances Lamey and husband Bill of Antlers, OK.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents: William Sawyer and Myrtle (Baker) Sawyer; brothers: Bill Sawyer, Gilbert Sawyer; sisters: Dora Penick, Dorthy Ford, Elsie Johnston, Lizzie George, infant brother: James Robert Sawyer; infant sister: Gracie Elizabeth Sawyer; and son-in-law: Roy Plotner.
