Dora Belle (Bates) Black, age 78, a longtime Wapanucka, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, November 11, 1942, to James and Lillie Bates, at Wapanucka, OK, the youngest of 8 children. Dora passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Ada, OK. She attended Wapanucka Public School, Vo-Tech and also had training to be a home health provider. Dora was a homemaker and was also a home health provider for several years for the Indian Territory Home Health. She married John Lewis Black on November 19, 1960 in Tishomingo, OK. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before his passing on January 28, 2003. Dora was a member of the Wapanucka Church of God. She loved to play bingo, read, watch the NBA and run with her little lady friends. She especially loved visiting and caring for her family and all others that crossed her path.

Dora is survived by her children, John Black and wife Lori of Ada, OK, Steven Black and wife Julia of Auburn, WA; grandchildren, Konner Black, Aydin Black, Lesli Smith and husband Chandler Smith, Breyden Brookshire, Kinsey Black, Tonya Rowland, David Rowland; great grandchildren, Jacelin Smith, Jentri Smith; siblings, Rufus Bates of Wapanucka, OK, Reable Lowe and husband Marvin of Butcher Pen, OK; sisters in law, Shirley Bates of Dallas, TX, Sharon Moore of Ada, OK, Erma Pursley of Ada, OK; brothers in law, Jerry Black of Tishomingo, OK, Eddie Black and wife Susan of Tishomingo, OK, Doyle Black of Shawnee, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Bates; in laws, Jess James and Mary Ellen Black; husband, John L Black; sisters, Lois I. Bates-Brooks, Beatrice M. Bates-Carr, Jewel Dean Bates, Betty Jean Bates-Doss, Gladis L. Bates-Rymer, Diane Robertson; nephew, James Lenard Robertson; brothers in law, Jesse Allen Black, Willard Bradford Black; sisters in law, Joann Black, LaNita Robertson, Mary Black.
