Dorothy Louise (Flowers) Hurd, age 92, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, October 29, 1925, to Charley Allison and Pearl (Coglan) Flowers, at Centerpoint, OK. Dorothy passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Atoka, OK. She attended grade school at Centerpoint and graduated from Atoka High School. She then attended SOSU. Dorothy was a homemaker and housewife. She married Thomas "Brownie" Albert Hurd on Nov. 1943 at Atoka, OK. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1986. They spent 43 years together before his passing.  Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Holiness Church. She enjoyed crocheting, playing piano, and spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her son, C.T. Hurd and wife Vickie of Farris, OK; daughters, Modra Bockmann and husband John of Durant, OK, Debbie Arnold and husband Rodney of Boswell, OK; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Pearl Flowers; husband, Thomas "Brownie" Hurd; son, Tony Hurd; daughter, Alma VanWinkle; brother, Ernest Flowers; sisters, Lola Arnold, Opal Thomas, Gladys Henderson, and first born child, Retha Flowers who passed as an infant and is buried on their place.
