Dwight Lee DeWitt, age 52, a longtime Wapanucka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, June 27, 1968, to Walter Lee and Martha Lee (Gipson) DeWitt, at Talihina, OK. Dwight passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Wapanucka, OK. He attended Atoka and Wapanucka High Schools and graduated in 1986. He then attended Okmulgee Tech where he studied diesel mechanic and graduated there in 1988. Dwight was a mechanic and machinist for Precision Engines in Durant, a ranch hand for Tommy Johnson and worked for Sundowner Trailers. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Seeley Chapel Methodist Church, a member of Chickasaw Nation, assistant Chief of Wilson Fire Dept, served as Captain for 34 years. He loved fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Dwight is survived by his mother, Martha Lee (Gipson) DeWitt of Wapanucka, OK; sisters, Gwendolyn Clark of Pocola, OK, Laura Buss and husband Richard of Ada, OK; brother, Keith DeWitt and wife Vickie of Wapanucka, OK; aunts, Ruby Horse and husband Olen of Midwest City, OK, Betty Thomas and husband Gene of Alexandria, VA, Darlene DeWitt of Midwest City, OK; nephews, Gary DeWitt and companion Jimi Bergmanof Atoka, OK, Jess Buss of Atoka, OK; nieces, Sharla DeWitt and companion Roy Sisson of Sulphur, OK, Alejandra Clark of Ft. Smith, AR, Angela Clark of Ft. Smith, AR, Raven Clark of Pawnee, OK; along with numerous other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Walter DeWitt; paternal grandparents, Walter and Annie DeWitt; maternal grandparents, Robert and Marie Gipson.
