OBITUARY

Elizabeth Ann Mewszel, 55, of Wapanucka, Oklahoma, passed away on July 30, 2026, in Coleman, Oklahoma.

Elizabeth was born on May 27, 1970, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Jackie Charles Sweat and Margaret Elaine (Wertz) Sweat. She later earned her GED and spent many years working as a scale clerk for Dolese Rock Crushing Company.

On June 6, 2020, Elizabeth married the love of her life, Steven Mewszel, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Together they shared a love of fishing and making memories outdoors. Elizabeth proudly won their first family fishing tournament, a memory she always cherished.

Elizabeth was a faithful member of Victory Life Church in Atoka, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Her strong faith and love for others were evident in the way she lived her life.

She is survived by her husband, Steven Mewszel of Wapanucka, Oklahoma; her sisters, Julia Switzer and Carla Pratt, both of Woodbine, Kansas; her aunt, Ann Wertz of Royse City, Texas; her uncle, William “Bill” Wertz and wife Lori of Springfield, Missouri; her niece, Autum Walters; cousins, Brenda Livingston, Jerimiah Bennett, Mitchell Ortiz, Barbara Clifton, J.P. Aaron, Alita Newland, Maria Geibas, Ronald Pugh, Mathew Pugh, Annie Pugh, Roland Pugh, as well as numerous other relitives, and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jackie Charles Sweat, and her mother, Margaret Elaine (Wertz) Sweat.

A family-led funeral service will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Victory Life Church in Atoka, with Pastor Colton Coffee officiating.
