Elmer Gene Griffith, age 79, a Tushka, OK resident and lifelong Atoka County resident. He was born on Saturday, May 12, 1945, to Jess and Leah Nora-Inez (Bowlin) Griffith, at Atoka, OK. Elmer passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Atoka, OK. He attended Mamie Johnson Grade School. Elmer was a Road Grader Operator for District 2 for Atoka County where he retired. Elmer proudly served his country in The United States Army and fought in the Korean War. Elmer is of the Pentecostal faith and is a former member of the Mtn. View Church. He loved to fish, working on old cars, and playing dominoes. He was very competitive. He enjoyed singing gospel music and dancing.
Elmer is survived by his sisters, Shirly Taylor of Wilson, OK, Martha Baker of Harrah, OK, Alice Riley and husband Carey of Olney, OK; brothers, Orvile Griffith of Ashdown, AR, James Burleson and wife Sherry of Atoka, OK, Teddy Burleson of Atoka, OK; along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Leah Nora-Inez (Bowlin) Griffith; brother, John Griffith; sister, Emma Parkhill.
