Elsie Vay Blakley, age 97, an Alvarado, TX resident, lived in Stringtown, Ft. Worth, Durant and Caddo the past 25 years, was born on Thursday, November 2, 1922, to Charlie Clark and Rosie Ellen (Steverson) Bicknell, at Greasy Bend in Stringtown, OK. Elsie passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at her home in Alvarado, TX. She attended Greasy Bend and Redden Schools. Elsie was a housewife and homemaker, also a seamstress working for the public. She married Claud Carter Blakley in 1938 at Atoka, OK. Elsie was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved gardening, quilting, canning, crocheting and sewing was her favorite hobby. Elsie could make anything from clothes to motorcycle seats, especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her children, Essie Fay Allcock of Alvarado, TX, Shirley Davidson and husband Robert of Alvarado, TX, Jimmy Blakley and wife Burva of Durant, OK, Jullie Gray and husband Gary of Ft. Worth, TX, Tobby Blakley and wife Cathy of Armstrong, OK, Janie Beavers of Allen, OK; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, 5 great great great grandchildren; niece, Retha McCord and husband Paul of Centrahoma, OK; nephews, Eddie Campbell and wife Ann of Bowie, TX, Archie Bicknell of Atoka, OK; along with other family members and dear friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Rosie Bicknell; husband, Claud Carter Blakley; sons, Joe Blakley, D.B. Blakley; daughter, Bobbie Jean McGill; 4 brothers; 3 sisters. ******************************************************************************
