Elsie Faye (Ford) Gray, age 94 & 9 months, an Atoka, OK resident. She was born Thursday, June 11, 1931 to Jay and Dimple Ford. Elsie passed away on March 23, 2026 in Atoka, OK.
She attended Atoka public schools and she married Wayne Gray on July 7, 1950 in Roswell, New Mexico, where her husband was stationed in the United States Air Force. They have four children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Elsie loved traveling with her family. They were stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas for many years, lived in Spain for a couple of years, and when Wayne was sent to Vietnam they moved to Atoka, OK to be with Elsie’s family while he was away.
Elsie was an avid twirler in high school. She taught twirling for many years and had a twirling studio while living in Blytheville.
When she was put in the nursing home in Calera, OK at age 85 she performed for them and everyone was surprised she could still throw her baton in the air and catch it. She loved to twirl & perform for others.
Elsie is survived by her four children, Dale Gray of Atoka, OK, Sammy Gray of Tishomingo, OK, Jarena Capps & husband Larry of Sherman, TX, & Tony Gray and wife Sally of Dublin, TX; very special sister Joyce Littleton of Atoka, OK; 8 grandchildren: Kevin & Jeremy Capps, Justin, Cody, & Heath Gray, Brandy Gray, Jamie Horn & Sheila White; 14 great grandchildren; & 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband Wayne Gray, her parents Jay & Dimple Ford, brother Lonnie Ford, grandson Steven Capps, & daughter in law Shirley Gray.
