Ernest "Lee" Sweat

Ernest “Lee” Sweat was born on the farm in Lula, OK on July 1, 1936 to Odra Mae and Knox Lee Sweat. He passed away on March 22, 2026 at his home in Stonewall, OK at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 21 days. Lee rode a horse to school for 8 years until Lula School purchased a school bus. He graduated from Lula High School in 1954. Following high school, he went to East Central University and graduated in 1957. He then attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI where he became a sales representative for Buick Motors Division. Lee married Shirla Ann Daniel on June 8, 1958 and they started their married life in Flint, MI. He was ordained a deacon at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Leesburg, VA. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Stonewall, where he served as a deacon, taught classes, and helped wherever he was needed. Lee was also a Gideon, faithfully sharing God’s Word and serving others through that ministry. Falls Creek was a meaningful part of his life. He took great joy in seeing the new cabin come to life and sponsoring students. Lee, Shirla, and the children moved back home to Stonewall, OK in 1975 and purchased Goss Dry Goods Store. After liquidating the store, Lee worked for Kiamichi Vo-Tech in Atoka, OK until retirement. He had a love for dominoes, baseball, and especially his wife. Lee was a man of deep faith who dedicated his life to serving others and holding firmly to the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

SONS: Vernon Lee Sweat and wife Malipsa of Stonewall, Steven Vaughn Sweat and wife Lois of Stonewall

DAUGHTER: Lea Annette Pharr and husband Kent of Stonewall

GRANDCHILDREN: Megan Hinkle and husband Randy of Stratford, Jason Sweat of Ada, Jared Pharr and wife Whitley of Stonewall, Jordan Harvey and husband Austen of Seminole

GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Parker Hinkle, Korbin Hinkle, Carter Hinkle, Lacey Hinkle, Sophia Sweat, Easton Thomas, Branch Thomas, Kowen Pharr, Palmer Harvey

SISTERS: Connie Teel of Crystal Beach, TX, Donna Lee Cranford and husband Dewayne of Stonewall

1ST NEPHEW: Hugh Don Sweat

1st NEICE: Celeste Lucius

Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other dearly loved friends and family.
