Esmond Willis "Sonny" Cox passed away January 26, 2009 at the age of 77 years at Brookside Nursing Center. Services to celebrate his life will be held Friday, Jan. 30th, 2:00pm at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Bro. Bob Waitman will officiate. Sonny was born November 15, 1931 in Ballinger, Texas to W. J. and Inez (Esmond) Cox. He attended school in Fort Worth, Rio Vista and TCU. Sonny retired from Transamerica Insurance Corportation in 1989. Sonny and his wife Martha moved to Soper, OK in 1999, then in 2005 they made their home in Kingston. Sonny was a member of the First Baptist Church, Madill. His hobby was flying aircraft. He loved being a pilot, spending time with his family and friends, and telling stories with his great sense of humor. Sonny is survived by wife Martha, sons Michael and wife Cindy of North Richland Hills, TX, Terry and wife Sherry of Fishermans Paradise, TX, Darren and wife Lisa of Fitzgerald, GA, stepsons, Karl Kuykendall of Dallas, TX, Keith Kuykendall and wife Christy of Point, TX, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and a host of dear and loved friends. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and sister Virigina Green. Interment will be in Woodberry Cemetery with Jeremy Cox, Jay Cox, Karl Kuykendall, Keith Kuykendall, Randy Box, and Shannon Leverton serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, January 29, 2009.
