Ethel Marie Wood, age 90, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Saturday, October 8, 1932, to Nora L. Rogers, at Atoka, OK. Ethel passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Atoka Manor in Atoka, OK. She attended Harmony and Mayers Chapple schools and Atoka School. Ethel went on to Vo-Tech School of Nursing where she got her LPN license. Ethel was a LPN from 1962 til her semi retirement in 1994. She worked for Hubbard Nursing Home and later at Canaday Nursing Home from the time they opened until they closed and then moved to the Atoka Manor where she later became a patient in her failing health. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and she enjoyed reading the weekly Atoka County Times.
Ethel is survived by her nieces, Fran Davidson of Ardmore, OK, Thea Walker and husband Jack of Atoka, OK; special friends, Dora Lee Moore of Atoka, OK, Bobby Neal and wife Dusty of Atoka, OK; along with other nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her adopted parents, Sam J. Wood and Kate Wood; mother, Nora Kelton; brothers, Porter, Rex, Samuel, and J.D. Wood, George Rankins; sister, Bettie Starling; Several Aunts and Uncles; special uncle, Lee Roy Rogers; special niece, Faye Rankins; nephew in law, Clint Davidson.
