OBITUARY Fred Harvey Gravett, age 91, an Atoka, OK resident was born on Tuesday, January 3, 1922, to Garland and Priscella (Parker) Gravett, at Atoka, OK. Fred passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Atoka, OK. He attended Butler school and Atoka High School. He graduated from the Maritime Institution of Technology and Graduate Studies of Baltimore, MA. Fred proudly served his country for 42 years in the United States Maritime Service. He retired in 1985 as Captain. During his 42 years he saw action in WWII in the invasion of Okinawa and was in Tokyo when MacArthur signed the peace treaty. He shuttled between Japan and Korea during the Korean War and was in and out of Vietnam during that conflict. He then retired with an honorable discharge from the United States Navy. He married Maria "Chela" Zaragoza on June 29, 1970 in Los Angeles, CA. He was of the Catholic faith, after retirement from the merchant marines he owned and operated a semi truck, computer sales and repair business and a pawn shop. Fred enjoyed fishing and working on computers. Fred is survived by his wife, Maria "Chela" Gravett of the home in Atoka, OK.; children, Michel Roberto Gravett and wife Andrea of Nebraska, Miriam Christina Barton and husband Jerry Jr. of Tulsa, OK.; grandchildren, Courtney S. Gravett of Atoka, OK.; Lauren C. Barton of Tulsa, OK.; Bailey T. Barton of Tulsa, OK.; Temperance L. Gravett of Nebraska, Channing M. Gravett of Nebraska; 1 great grandchild; brother-in-law, Lincoln Stiles of Atoka, OK.; sister-in-law, Maxine Gravett of Hinton, OK., along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Priscella (Parker) Gravett; siblings, Marwillie Stiles, Velma Lewis, Wanda McCannon, Tina Mae Moore, and Chester J.
