December 4, 1946 – December 26, 2019
Garry Royce Wilkins, age 73, a lifelong Kiowa resident, was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1946, to Royce Edward and Inez Marie (Derryberry) Wilkins, at McAlester, OK.
Garry passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at his son's home in Hominy, OK. He graduated from Kiowa High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in History and Psychology from SOSU. Garry was an ordinance worker for the Army Ammunition Base and worked at Riverside Auto Dealerships in McAlester. Garry proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam era where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He belong to Kiowa First Baptist Church, Kiowa Masonic Lodge where he was a 33rd Degree Mason, Chickasaw Citizen, member of Chickasaw Warrior Society and a lifelong member of National Republican Committee. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and Kiowa politics.
Garry is survived by his children, Royce Wilkins and wife Kristi of McAlester, OK, Clyde Wilkins of Shawnee, OK, Christa Hessen of Jenks, OK, Nancy Bess Wilkins and Jessica Salgado-Bess of San Francisco, CA, Jeb Wilkins and wife Julie of Decatur, TX, Rod Wilkins and wife Amanda of Hominy, OK; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Parthenia Doyle and husband John of Kiowa, OK, Janyas Hess Shreidi of Pittsburg, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Royce and Inez Marie Wilkins.
