Gayla Pauline Burleson, age 56, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Wednesday, November 22, 1967, to Thomas J. and Wanda L. (Basham) Robinson, at Atoka, OK. Gayla passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at her home in Atoka, OK. She attended Stringtown and Atoka Public Schools and then went on to attend Para Professional School. Gayla was a housewife and homemaker. She married Teddy Ray Burleson on Saturday, August 4th, 1984 at Atoka. They celebrated 39 years of marriage before her passing. Gayla was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Gospel Lighthouse in Tupelo. She enjoyed quilting, camping, fishing, cruising on cruise ships, thrift and garage sale shopping, and loved taking care of her kids and being a nanny to her 7 grandchildren.
Gayla is survived by her husband, Teddy Ray Burleson of Atoka, OK; mother, Wanda Christian of Atoka, OK; sons, Brandon Burleson of Atoka, OK, Justin Burleson and wife Melissa of Lane, OK, Dakota Burleson and wife Codi of Atoka, OK; daughter, Mary Elrod and husband J.W. of Stringtown, OK; father, Tom Robinson of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Rebecca Beach and husband Larry of Tupelo, OK; grandchildren, Cydney and Nathan Burleson of Atoka, OK, Traycen and Kylee Burleson of Lane, OK, Kaci, Raylee and Jasper Elrod of Stringtown, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Gayla was preceded in death by her stepdad, Gilbert Christian; brother, Tom Robinson Jr.; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Annie Ethel (Boone) Robinson; maternal grandparents, James and Mattie Basham.
