Gilbert Columbus Christian, age 89, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Friday, May 3, 1929, to Charles William and Golda Sylvian (Harrison) Christian, at Millerton, OK. Gilbert passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at his home in Atoka, OK. He graduated from Antlers High School in 1947. Gilbert was a Journeyman.
Gilbert proudly served his country in The Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Wanda Louise (Basham) on Saturday, May 25th, 1985 at Antlers, OK. They enjoyed 35 years together. Gilbert was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodwork, visiting family, whistling and "pestering."
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Wanda Louise Christian of the home in Atoka, OK; daughters, Shelia Kiser of Shawnee, OK, Charolette Murphy and husband Brice of Roff, OK, Gayla Burleson and husband Teddy of Atoka, OK, Rebecca Beach and husband Larry of Tupelo, OK; sons, Steven Christian of Conroe, TX, Kelley Christian of Shawnee, OK, Thomas Robinson of Tulsa, OK; 17 grandchildren; along with numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Golda Sylvian (Harrison) Christian; son in law, Frank Straton.
