Glo Lendle Rounsaville, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired-United States Air Force)

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired-United States Air Force) Glo Lendle Rounsaville born August 19, 1934 in Atoka, Oklahoma passed away at his home in Norman, Oklahoma on 29 December, 2018.  Glo Rounsaville was the son of Mr. Delbert Hartwell Rounsaville and Mrs. Mittie Marie Garner Rounsaville.

Glo grew up in Atoka, at 215 Delaware Street. He was the 8 th of 10 children born to Delbert and Mittie Rounsaville.  He graduated from Atoka High School, class of 1951.  He entered Oklahoma A&M (OSU) following in the footsteps of his older siblings.

Glo met Eddy Ann Harper, his wife of 62 years, in Atoka.  She a senior in High School, and he a sophomore at Oklahoma A&M.  They were introduced on a blind date by Tinker Ray and Elma Lou Byrum Ray; fell in love, and after two years they were married on June 1, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Atoka. Glo graduated from Oklahoma A&M, January 1957. He was commissioned a 2 nd Lt. through the Oklahoma A&M Air Force ROTC.   After training to become a Radar Navigator on the B-52 Strategic bomber, Glo served 22 years in the elite Strategic Air Command (SAC), 8 th Air Force, logging over 5,500 hours aboard the B52 during   the Vietnam Conflict and the Cold War in the 1970's.  He excelled as a B-52 Navigator, Senior Staff Officer, and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Glo and Eddy Ann were proud parents of four boys. Keith, Richard, Michael and Paul. As a family during the years they were growing up they were fortunate to travel to many places, lived on the Island of Guam for 2 years, and lived in many states.  They highly praised their dad for providing them the opportunity to experience the many places they lived and for the adventures traveling abroad.

Glo retired in Atoka after a 22 year Air Force military career.  He was a principal/teacher at MacAlford Correctional Center for 12 years, became active in the community as an Atoka City Council member for years. Glo served as a Sunday school superintendent at First Baptist Church, and a member of the deacon body for several years. Due to declining health and a need to be closer to his doctors, he and Eddy Ann moved to Norman, OK, in 2013.

Ever a loving family man, he relished the holidays, especially Christmas when his sons and their families would gather.  Glo and Eddy Ann took several family vacations of different types including fishing trips in Colorado, trips to Hawaii, cruises to Alaska, and a family trip to Washington DC over the 4 th of July. His family and friends knew him as a "wonderful story teller".  He wrote two books for his family, Grandad Glo's Stories and A Father's Legacy ; both are treasured.

Glo loved his Lord Jesus Christ and had many favorite Bible Verses.  His favorite was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me".  His favorite hobbies were fishing, storytelling, and traveling.

Glo is survived by his wife, Eddy Ann (Harper) of 62 years, sons Keith Lendle Rounsaville and wife Cava Ann of Fort Collins Colorado, Michael Lee Rounsaville and wife Melinda Denise of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Paul Dean, retired Colonel USA Special Forces and wife Taylor Ann of Fayetteville, North Carolina, grandchildren Travis Rein Rounsaville and wife Thea of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ciara Lynn (Rounsaville) and husband Dave Davies of Boston, Massachusetts, Lendel Del and Gini Rounsaville of Dallas, Texas.  Jami (Rounsaville) and Jon Massey of Edmond, Oklahoma, two great granddaughters, Margaret (Maggie) Ann Massey and Lillian (Lili) Kay Massey of Edmond, Oklahoma. Two surviving siblings, Mrs. Ferne Brown (Rounsaville) of  Mansfield, Texas and Mrs. Marilyn Giles (Rounsaville) of  Edgewood, Texas.  Sister-in-law Cindy Coffman, University Park, Florida.  Many Beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death, Glo's parents Delbert Hartwell and Mittie Marie (Garner) Rounsaville, grandparents, Franklin Andrew and Emily (King) Rounsaville, Samuel Reed and Mary Magdelene (Cooper) Garner. One beloved son, Richard Del Rounsaville, Siblings; Delbert A. Rounsaville and wife Dean, Tom J. Rounsaville (Colonel USA, 2017 Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame Honoree) wife Mary, Forrest Cooper Rounsaville, Rozelle  Ortrude (Rounsaville) and husband, Charles Gilbert, Nevada Lee Bagley (Rounsaville) and husband George Bagley, Viola May (Vicki) Johnson (Rounsaville), Carolyn Rounsaville, and beloved family and friends.

A memorial service in honor of Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Glo Lendle Rounsaville will be held at Brown's Funeral Service, Atoka, Oklahoma on 12 January at 2:00 PM Central Standard Time, with Rev John Mixon officiating. The address is 718 W. 13 th Street, Atoka, Oklahoma 74525 (580-889-9339).
