Harold Dean Cooksey Sr., age 90, a Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, December 20, 1930, to Charles and Elizabeth (Henderson) Cooksey, at Minco, OK. Harold passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Durant, OK. He attended West Alison school in Atoka county. Harold worked for Container Corp. of America as a heavy machine operator and also worked for Atoka County District 2 for several years along with being a farmer, rancher and high liner. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He married Jewel L. Drain on June 18, 1955 in Ft. Worth, TX. Harold was a life long member of the Church of the First Born. He loved raising his garden, trading junk and anything of value, hunting and fishing.
Harold is survived by his sons, J.R. Cooksey and Susie Valle of Atoka, OK, Carroll Gene Cooksey of Henrietta, OK, Charles Cooksey and wife Karen of Atoka, OK; brother, Paul Gene "Huggie" Cooksey of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Dean Cooksey and wife Lisa of Atoka, OK, , Misti Cooksey and Robby of McAlester, OK, Chelsey Rhodes and husband Chuck of Texas, Jordan Posey and husband Dillon of Atoka,OK, Waede Ames of Atoka, OK, Chadd Cooksey and wife Courtney of Atoka, OK, Adam Cooksey of Atoka, OK; great granchildren,Weston Cooksey and wife Kimberly of Atoka, OK, Falon Cooksey of Atoka, OK, Shelbi Cooksey of Coalgate, OK, Brianna Cooksey, Mackinzie Cooksey, Micah Cooksey, Dakota Cooksey, Thomas Cooksey, Jacob Cooksey, Kelsie LeAnn Cooksey, Naomi Brown, Sarah Brown, Malachi Brown, Levi Brown of Henryetta, OK, Elizabeth Cooksey of Kansas; great great grandchildren, Braelynn Grace Cooksey, Brixton Lane Cooksey and one on the way; dear friends, Karen and Leo Caves; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Horold was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth (Henderson) Cooksey; wife, Jewel L. (Drain) Cooksey; brothers, Alvin Cooksey, Edward Cooksey, Raymond Cooksey, Clarence Cooksey, Bud Sanders; grandson, Gene Cooksey, granddaughters, LeAnn (Cooksey) Brown, Christy Elizabeth Ames; great grandson, Kaleb Lane Cooksey
