Obituary

Howard Smith, age 87, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Tuesday, July 12, 1932, to Clifford and Jessie (Clark) Smith, at Pine Springs, OK. Howard passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at McAlester, OK. He attended Pine Springs school and then went on to attend Murray State College. Howard was a bus driver for 17 years and he was also a ranch hand.  Howard proudly served his country in The Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Jeri (Collins) on Monday, June 12th, 1978 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before his passing. Howard was a member of Farris Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, working cattle, spending time with kids and grandkids, he smiled everytime whenever his family was around, and visiting with anyone that would spend time with him.
Howard is survived by his wife, Jeri Smith of the home in Atoka, OK; sons, Billy Joe Woods of Missoula, MT, David Lee Woods and wife Joy of Marlow, OK, Larry Howard Smith of Farris, OK, Larry "Little Larry" Smith and wife Shelli of Atoka, OK; daughter, Victoria Shanks and husband James of Farris, OK; grandchildren, Little Billy, Jannetta, David Jr., Jody, Wade, Kevin, Dalton, Falon, Roxanne, Brianna, Shelby, Kaitlin, Kayla; sisters in law, Marcia Smith of Farris, OK, Mary Smith of Plano, TX, Laura Smith of Farris, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Jessie (Clark) Smith; brothers, Troy, Roy, Wamon, HB, Bryan.
