Obituary

Hugo Manuel Taylor, age 79, a longtime Atoka, OK resident was raised in the Wilson Community and lived in Oklahoma City over 20 years before moving back to Atoka, OK. He was born on Monday, August 6, 1945, to Luther McCoy and Lulu Pearl (Wilson) Taylor, at Atoka, OK. Hugo passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home in Atoka, OK surrounded by his loved ones. He attended Wilson and Wapanucka Public Schools. Hugo worked all his adult life at the Oklahoma City Zoo as Zookeeper and took care of the animals. He was raised as a Christian and was non denominational. Hugo enjoyed showing his truck that he rebuilt, going to Choctaw Senior Citizens, traveling, playing bingo, gardening and loved hanging out with family.
Hugo is survived by his children, Shannon Taylor and Kelly Johnson of Seminole, OK, Demetrius Taylor of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Tyler Lee Taylor, Morghann Taylor; great grandchild, Luna Taylor; siblings, Dean Taylor of Wilson Community, OK, Ella Joy Gray of Antlers, OK, Avodale Steer and husband David of Wilson Community, OK, Norma Gail Hawkins and husband Mark of St. Louis, MO; sisters in law, Mary Taylor of Del City, OK, Elouise Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, Shirley Taylor of Wilson Community, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Hugo was preceded in death by his parents, Luther McCoy and Lulu Pearl (Wilson) Taylor; siblings, Gary Taylor, Ralph Taylor, Ray Taylor, Eugene Taylor, Randy Taylor.
