Obituary

Jack C. Humphrey, age 80, a longtime Lane, OK resident.
He was born on Wednesday, June 9, 1943, to Jack Walton and Umeka Louise (Rodman) Humphrey, at Modesto, CA. Jack passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home in Lane, OK surrounded by his loved ones. He attended Redding Elementary in California, Pine Top School in Pittsburg Co. and graduated from Pittsburg High School. Jack then received his Bachelors and Masters Degree from SOSU and then attended OKlahoma University and Tulsa University for his administrative studies. Jack was a teacher and coach at Wapanucka Public Schools, teacher, coach and Principal at Blue, and retired after 36 years as Superintendent at Lane School. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Linda Faye (Foster) on Saturday, January 5th, 1963 at Pittsburg, OK. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing. A member of Church of the Rock, was a volunteer fireman and Chief of Lane Fire Dept and was one of the founders. Jack was a founding member of Oklahoma Rural Schools Association. Served on State Superintendents Advisory Board and an official member of "Spit and Whittle" Club at Lane. He also enjoyed working his cattle and loved being with his family.
Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Humphrey of the home in Lane, OK; sons, Raymond Humphrey and wife Mellissa of Lane, OK, Justin Humphrey and wife Carla of Lane, OK; grandchildren, Robby Humphrey of McAlester, OK, PJ McCreary and husband Jared of Lane, OK, Fallon Humphrey of Denison, TX, Coben Humphrey of Lane, OK, Cort Humphrey of Lane, OK, Cade Humphrey of Lane, OK; great grandchildren, Dirk Johnson, Maverick Heffley, Lucy Heffley, Keely McCreary, McKenzi McCreary all of Lane, OK; siblings, Gene Humphrey, John Humphrey, Lonnie Humphrey, Jimmy Humphrey, Wayne Humphrey; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Walton Humphrey and Umeka Louise (Rodman) James; step dad that raised Jack, Lloyd James; siblings, Sheila James, Paul James, Justin Humphrey, George Humphrey; father in law and best friend, Dee Foster.
