OBITUARY
NAME: Jacob Stanley Stevens, age 94, a Coalgate resident.
BORN: He was born on July 29, 1922, to Samuel H. & Kate (Fambrough) Stevens, at Wapanucka, OK
PASSED AWAY: Jacob passed away on August 28, 2016 at Sulpher, OK.
AGE: 94 years and 30 days.
EDUCATION: He went to school in Atoka County, at Pleasant Hill.
OCCUPATION: Jacob lived on the farm until he was 19 and did farm work. He went to California in March 1942 where he worked at the Richmond Shipyard #2 until he enlisted in the Army in August 1942. He went to Tocca, Georgia for parachute training and qualified as a paratrooper on Jan. 1, 1943. Jacob was in 506 Regiment of 101st Airborn Division "The Screaming Eagles". Jacob went to England in 1943 than went to Normandy France on June 6, 1944 as part of the D Day Invasion. He was wounded in combat on June 13, 1944, which he came back to the United States in August and was discharged in 1945. Jake was awarded the Purple Heart, Victory Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, One Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. Jacob went to work in the Oil Field in 1946 and worked drilling mostly until 1968. He worked in 8 different states and countries, Argentina, Venezuela, Turkey and Libya.
MARRIED: Jacob married Ola Faye Claunch in 1947, and later married Hettie (Cain) Stevens in 1968.
CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Jake was baptized and joined the Wapanucka Baptist Church in 1956. Jacob moved to Non, OK and raised cattle, dogs for many years. Jake played music for many dances in the area, he enjoyed playing the fiddle.

Melissa Pastrana & husband Bob (Roberto) of Las Cruces, NM
15 Great Grandchildren
Along with nieces, nephews and many dear and loved friends
