James Bates, age 64, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, April 3, 1958, to James and Shirley Mae (Stevens) Bates, at Waldon, CO. James passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Coalgate, OK. He attended Fort Oshage High School in Independence, Missouri. James was a Concrete Finisher. He married Rosalee Fulsom on Thursday, August 11th, 2011 at Atoka, OK, she preceded him in death on March 3, 2020. James was a Royal Rangers member when he was younger. He enjoyed fishing and talking to friends and family.
James is survived by his son, James Edward Bates III of Frisco, TX; stepdaughter, Traci Akin Koronkiewicz of Frisco, TX; brothers, Vern F. Bates and wife Phyllis of Atoka, OK, Bruce W. Bates of Atoka, OK; step brother, John Tatum of Missouri
He was preceded by his parents, James and Shirley Mae (Stevens) Bates; brother, Roy Bates; wife, Rosalee (Fulsom) Bates
