James Ray Gibson, age 75, a longtime Centerpoint, OK resident, was born on Saturday, January 3, 1948, to Louie Ray and Mable (Goforth) Gibson, at Borger, TX. James passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Atoka, OK. He attended Atoka Public Schools and graduated from Rattan High School. James was a rancher, insulator, and corrections officer. James proudly served his country in The Army during the Vietnam War. He married Joyce Ann (Elmore) on Saturday, July 11th, 1970 at Baton Rouge, LA. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage before her passing on February 16, 2020. James was of the Assembly of God faith and attended Farris Assembly of God. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his family.
James is survived by his children, Danna Renee Gibson of Baker, LA, Glennette Ann Gibson Mutter of Antlers, OK, James Heath Gibson of Centerpoint, OK, Shauna Gibson of Centerpoint, OK, Amanda Rochelle Gibson of Allen, TX, Deasarea Ann Gibson Boston and husband Jacob of Atoka, OK, Tristan Ray Gibson of Centerpoint, OK, Druid Star Gibson of Baton Rouge, LA; great grandchildren, Riayr J-Lee Boston, Braylee Ann Boston; siblings, RL Gibson and wife Carolyn of Oklahoma City, OK, Debra Gibson Cart and husband Greg of Centerpoint, OK, Donna Gibson Mills and husband Curtis of Hugo, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, countless cousins and other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Ray and Mable (Goforth) Gibson; wife, Joyce Ann Gibson; sister, Shirley Wharton; great grandchild, Kynnlee Leann Boston; infant brother, Carl Gibson.
