Obituary

James (Jim) Walter Broome, 76, of Rogers, AR went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2022, at Promenade Health and Rehab.  He was born January 25, 1946 in Atoka, OK, to Clarence Eugene and Pauline Leona (Copeland)  Broome.

Jim graduated from school in Atoka, Oklahoma and played trombone in the high school band.  Jim trained and worked as an electrician after high school.  He served in the US Army National Guard for six years, and was an E7 on discharge.  In 1966, he married Judy Teasley.  They had 3 children. He worked as an electrician, in machine shops, and assembly work in Arlington, TX and an electrical supply salesman in Atoka. During this time, he sensed a call to ministry.  He moved his family to Colorado Springs, CO, to attend Nazarene Bible College.  After graduation, he pastored two Churches of the Nazarene, one in Middleport, OH for six years and another in Bossier City, LA for nine years. In 1991, Jim and his family moved to Rogers, AR where he worked at Superior Industries for 23 years.

Jim was a member of Rogers First Church of the Nazarene, where he was a faithful member of the Heaven Bound class.  Through the years he served in various ministries and participated in multiple small groups. In his later years, he had a ministry of providing transportation to church and Sunday School for a number of people who were unable to drive themselves. He was a faithful part of a small group who studied prophecy, led by Fred Willard.  Jim was a wonderful resource of Scripture knowledge.  He exemplified a man of God's Word.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.  He loved Southern Gospel music.

Throughout his life, he was a walking evangelist who used every opportunity to share the love of Jesus with servers, cashiers, customer service people and all he came into contact. He had a heart for witnessing and always carried a Gospel tract to give to anyone in need.  He was a prayer warrior and prayed regularly for those he met and who had prayer requests.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline Broome; his brother, Alan Broome and his grandparents, Walter and Zulene Copeland and Nora Copeland.  He is survived by Judy Jordan, of Atoka OK; three children, Stanley Dale Broome and wife, Cheryl of Dallas, TX; James Brian Broome and wife, Misty of Temple, TX; Kara Renee Broome of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Molly Edmiston and husband Will, Eli Stevens and wife Kaitlyn, Dorian Broome, Emily Broome, Seth Broome, Anastasia Broome, Garrett Taylor, Noah Broome, Lane Broome, Logan Broome; great grandson, Guy Edmiston; brother Eugene Broome, and wife, Barbara, of Atoka, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and dear friends.
