Janice Janette Bussey Clifford, was called home by God on March 7, 2023.
Janice was born July 14, 1926 at Atoka, Oklahoma, to Charley and Esther Mitchell Bussey. Janice was the second oldest child and the only daughter of eight children. On October 1, 1939, Janice received her Junior Department Promotion at the First Baptist Church, Atoka. Janice attended Atoka High School and graduated with the class of 1944. Janice began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company on January 24, 1944, as an Operator, in Atoka, Oklahoma. Janice retired on April 2, 1988, as a Supervisor, after 44 years of service. Janice received numerous awards, including one on January 24, 1968, for 24 years of service with no absences. Janice married the Love of her life, William Kingdon "Bill" Clifford on January 22, 1946. Bill and Janice were married for 44 years before Bill passed away on September 18, 1990. Other than a very brief period, Janice has lived her entire life in either Atoka or Ada, Oklahoma. Janice Loves God and was a longtime member of either First Baptist Church in Ada or Atoka, Oklahoma. Janice was also a member of Noah and Close Harmony ensembles at First Baptist Church, Atoka. Janice was a longtime volunteer with the Atoka Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Janice enjoyed traveling to visit family and with Church Groups.
Janice is survived by Sisters-in-law Mamie Bussey Blaylock, Malakoff, Texas; Billie Wright Bussey, McAlester, Oklahoma; Helen Bussey Pankrentz, Amarillo, Texas; as well as nieces and nephews, Anne (Bussey) Walchshauser, Crest Hill, Illinois; Charles and Kathy Bussey, Las Vegas, Nevada; Sandra (Bussey) Jackson, Amarillo, Texas; Randy Sanderson, Malakoff, Texas; Marsha (Bussey) Gall, Grapevine, Texas; Craig and Shelley Bussey, Farmers Branch, Texas; Carol Bussey, Live Oak, Florida; Steve and Veronica Bussey, Melbourne, Florida; Larry and Linda Bussey, Live Oak, Florida; Beth Bussey, Atlantic Beach, Florida; Jennifer (Bussey) Pritchett, Melbourne, Florida; Sarah (Bussey) and Alan Wilkerson, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida; Ronald and Martha Bussey, Moore, Oklahoma; Karen (Bussey) and Robert Wright, The Colony, Texas; John Bussey, Eufaula, Oklahoma; Janis (Bussey) and Dwaine Moore, Granbury, Texas; Daniel and Michelle Thrasher, Pensacola, Florida; Kevin Bussey, Canyon, Texas; Terry and Michelle Bussey, Wichita Falls, Texas; Special Great Niece Gillian (Bussey) and Kelley Carlson. Janice has 52 Great Nieces and Nephews; 65 Great Great Nieces and Nephews; and 2 Great Great Great Nieces and Nephews; along with other relatives and many dear friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents Charley and Esther Bussey; husband Bill Clifford; brothers J.W. and wife Eunice Bussey, Samuel Bussey, Harold and wife Louise Bussey, William and wife Catherine Bussey, Henry Bussey, Walter and wife Velma Bussey, Dale Bussey; and nephews Chester Ward, Jr., Cliff A. Gall, William "Bill" Bussey, Jr, and Clem Walchshauser.
