Obituary

Jean Evelyn (Ishmael) Stamps, age 94, a Lexington, TN resident, formerly of Atoka, OK, was born on Monday, January 28, 1924, to Melvin Shade and Bertha (Harris) Ishmael, Sr., at Atoka,, OK. Jean passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Lexington, TN. She graduated from Atoka High School in May of 1942. Jean was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, she retired in 1983.
She married Victor Lee Stamps. Jean was a member of Church of Christ. She volunteered at Red Cross in Wichita, KA, traveled with Southwestern Bell Company on trips.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Phyllis J. Bracken and husband Bob of Lexington, TN; grandsons, Todd W. Bracken and wife Sheila of Chandler, AZ, Troy A Bracken of Olive Branch, MS, James C. Bracken and wife Kim of Jackson, TN; great grandchildren, Kora R. Bracken of Jackson, TN, Jaden C. Bracken of Jackson, TN; siblings, Melvin Shade Ishmael Jr. and wife Irene of Atoka, OK, Gordon Ishmael and wife Betty of Tulsa, OK, Carolyn Chaffin of Tulsa, OK, Marvin Ishmael and wife Debbie of Atoka, OK, Martha Morse and husband Doyle of Tulsa, OK; sister in law, Ruth Ishmael of Atoka, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Shade and Bertha (Harris) Ishmael Sr.; brothers, John Elvin Ishmael, Hal Ishmael; sisters, Helen Ann Lennard, Lillian Louise Frank.
